Scholarship Information

Due to the generous support of a number of individuals, public accounting firms and organizations, the Undergraduate Accounting Program at Florida State University offers many scholarship opportunities to undergraduate accounting majors. These opportunities and the related programs are described below.

E.C. and Tillie Allen Scholarships, Kimberly Cass Winter Scholarships and John Champion Scholarships

Based on a generous donation made by the late Mr. E.C. Allen and his wife Tillie, as well as generous donations by the family, friends and colleagues of the late Kimberly Winter Cass (a manager with Ernst & Young) and a generous contribution made by Mr. Richard Possenti (a retired partner from KPMG), every semester the Accounting Department awards a number of $500 scholarships.

Spring 2009 Applications

Based on a generous donation made by the late Mr. E.C. Allen and his wife Tillie, as well as generous donations by the family, friends and colleagues of the late Kimberly Winter Cass (a manager with Ernst & Young) and a generous contribution made by Mr. Richard Possenti (a retired partner from KPMG), every semester the Accounting Department awards a number of $500 scholarships. Applications for awards to be paid in the Spring 2009 Semester will be accepted from October 6, 2008 through October 27, 2008. The accounting department will be offering approximately 6 scholarships. Qualified students can apply for these awards each semester.

To be eligible for these scholarships, students must meet the four criteria specified below:

  1. be an undergraduate accounting major enrolled during the Spring 2009 Semester; part time and full-time undergraduate majors will be considered;
  2. have completed at least two (2) upper-level (i.e., 3000 and/or 4000 level) accounting courses (i.e., ACG and/or TAX) by the end of the Summer 2008 Semester (e.g., ACG 3101 and ACG 3341);
  3. have an accounting GPA of at least 3.400 based on all 2000, 3000 and 4000 level accounting classes taken (i.e., those courses with ACG and TAX prefixes) at the end of the Summer 2008 Semester; and
  4. have an overall GPA of at least 3.400 at the end of the Summer 2008 Semester.

Students who have received a total of three (3) or more of the above scholarships prior to the Spring 2009 Semester may apply; however, preference will be given to those students who have received a total of two (2) or fewer of the above scholarships prior to the Spring 2009 Semester. Completed applications for the Spring 2009 Semester Scholarship Program are due in the Accounting Department Office (Room 309) by 3:00 p.m. on, Monday, October 27, 2008. Applicants will be notified about November 28, 2008.

These scholarships will be announced in upper level accounting classes beginning October 6, 2008. Completed applications should be delivered to the Accounting Department Office (Room 309). A student can apply for a scholarship even if he/she will not be enrolled at the time of application. However, the applicant must be enrolled in the Spring of 2009 Semester. Applications will also be accepted by mail. The mailing address is shown below.

Based on the generous financial support provided by public accounting firms, alumni, business organizations and friends of the accounting department, each fall and spring semester the Accounting Department awards a number of $300 scholarships to undergraduate accounting majors. Applications for awards to be paid in the Spring 2009 Semester will be available about November 17, 2008, from this website as well as in the Accounting Department Office (RBA 309). Applications will be accepted beginning about November 17, 2008 through December 15, 2008. The Accounting Department will be offering approximately 20 scholarships. Qualified students can apply for these awards each fall and spring semester.
