The Small Business Mentoring Program

The Jim Moran Institute has partnered with the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce to provide a Small Business Mentoring Program, which will match small business owners with veteran entrepreneurs.

Why is there a need for this type of program?

Studies have shown that one of the most critical requirements to being a successful entrepreneur is having a good mentor. Often times being a small business owner means going at it alone without anyone to discuss problems or critical business concerns. The Small Business Mentoring program addresses this need by providing business owners with the opportunity for an honest exchange of ideas with veteran entrepreneurs. The result of participating in the program is that the newer business owner avoids the costly mistakes that are common in running a small enterprise.

How does the program work?

Businesses that have been in existence for at least two years are matched with experienced business owners. Business owners meet with their mentor each month to discuss everything from business trends to strategies.

How does a small business get involved?

Contact the Jim Moran Institute to apply to be either a mentor or a mentee. Training classes will be held to provide information for both mentees and mentors.
