Florida State Placement

The doctoral program in marketing at Florida State University is committed to helping students achieve their desired placement. To this end, there is strong emphasis on career development in academia, with a particular emphasis on producing high quality peer-reviewed research. Our current students are publishing at a rate that is well beyond most of their peers. For example, students in the classes of 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 averaged over three peer-reviewed journal publications per student, which is well beyond the publication rate of students in other programs. Our students are also publishing in quality outlets while enrolled in the program, such as Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Retailing, Multivariate Behavioral Research, Journal of Services Marketing, Psychology & Marketing, and in many other outlets.

We believe that a strong research record is a key ingredient for desired placement. We have placed students at excellent Universities, including The University of Arizona, Auburn University, Boston College, Cornell University, The University of Georgia, Michigan State University, and Texas Tech. Some of our most recent graduates were placed at Cornell University (2009), Texas Tech (2009), University of Southern Mississippi (2008), Cal State Fullerton (2008), Kansas State (2007), Illinois State (2007), Michigan State (2006), Auburn (2005), East Carolina (2006), The Citadel (2005), The University of Leeds-UK (2005), and The University of North Florida (2005).

Florida State University Ph.D. graduates are also doing well in their careers. Our past students have published in some of the best journals in our field within the past ten years, including Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Service Research, Strategic Management Journal, and in many other outlets. Our graduates have also found their ways to excellent Universities, including Dartmouth University, Clemson University, Georgia State University, University of New Orleans, and even Florida State University.

We believe that a combination of the guidance and training offered in our program and some hard work and determination from students will lead to a very bright future for our graduates.
