MAcc alums share insights
Women in Accounting is hosting guest speakers from the PricewaterhouseCoopers Tuesday night. The session begins at 7 p.m. in 334 Rovetta Business Building. Speakers include Kelly Bentz, Leigh Anne Lattin, Kristen Scott, Brian Avila and Jackie Williamson.
Chrissy Wright Burke, a MAcc graduate and one of the founders of Women in Accounting, recently came to speak to the student club and brought along her coworker, Laya Pant. Wright is working as a tax associate at RSM McGladrey in Jacksonville. Courtney Sherman, club president, said: “Chrissy explained to the members that as a student she worked best alone studying and completing assignments, but already in two months working at McGladrey she has realized that the most important thing is to work with your colleagues. She learned that if you do not ask questions you will be completely lost and that being the best alone will not help you. You have to help and be helped to make your work and your company the best.” Event attendees included Niki Oyarzun, Women in Accounting vice president, pictured from left, Burke, Sherman and Pant.
Taking strides against cancer
The MBA Association raised $425 at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in October. Donations are still being accepted on the team’s Web site.
Participants included Katharyn Van Petten, pictured in front from left, Erin Pennington, Payal Patel, Jessica Rivero, Alishia Hendels, Lindsey Bursevich, and in back, Joseph Piotrowski, left, and Jim Spencer.
