The Master Plan for August 25, 2008

Ready, set, go for the gold this semester

Start off at a good pace for a successful fall by following this handy checklist:

  • Drop or add courses before midnight Thursday. On-campus students needing help should see Scheri Martin, coordinator for on-campus graduate programs, in 233 Rovetta Business Building.
  • Online students needing help should contact Kim Burkes online registrar.
  • Pay your tuition and fees by Friday, Sept. 5.
  • Update your resume this week and upload it to the Career Center SeminoleLink before you’re slammed with homework and projects. SeminoleLink can be accessed through the “Secure Apps” tab in Blackboard. Before uploading, read SeminoleLink instructions .
  • Plan to attend Corporate Networking Night, Sept. 25.

Fall graduates, identify yourselves

Graduating this December? In order to receive your diploma, you must “apply for graduation,” by Sept. 12 using the link on the university’s graduation Web site.

Schedule some stress relief

Balance out the upcoming studies with some intramural flag football or tug-of-war. Check out the fall options at the Campus Recreation Web site today. Then, start or join an MBA Association team by contacting Rollo Knight.

Where did they go?

There have been some office moves for graduate staff during the recent break between semesters. All front-line admissions and registration staff members – including Scheri Martin and Jennifer Boyles, who both advise on-campus master’s students – can now be found at the end of the hall in the 233 Rovetta Business Building suite of rooms. Also located there are Lisa Beverly, director of graduate admissions; Kim Burkes, registrar for online graduate programs; Jennifer Clark, doctoral program coordinator; and Victor Ranft, director of graduate programs. Norm Palmer, office manager, will be greeting all who pass through the door.

Joanna Southerland, director for graduate programs support, now resides in 229 RBB. Freddi Robinson, graduate online support, is across the hall from her in 228 RBB. Shirley Wilson, graduate special projects, and Melanie Yeager, graduate communications, still reside in 224 RBB. Check out the graduate staff directory for contact information.

Kudos, colleague

Brian Dzingai, MBA 2007, made the 200 meters finals in the Olympic Games last week in Beijing. Dzingai, who had the fastest times in the first and second rounds, officially finished fourth behind bronze-medalist Walter Dix, another former FSU sprinter. Dzingai ran for his native country of Zimbabwe.
