Katie Froeschle Memorial Golf Tournament
provides scholarships for FSU students

On Friday, October 17, 2008, golfers, volunteers, friends and family gathered for the 3rd Annual Katie Froeschle Memorial Golf Tournament at the Crescent Oaks Country Club in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

The golf tournament is one fundraising effort of the Katie Froeschle Foundation that supports the Foundation's mission to improve educational advancement of Florida State University students and provides grants to organizations assisting families coping with traumatic loss.

The golf tournament, which raised over $30,000, forged ahead despite the current financial crisis to provide for students' education. With an advantageous goal to fill, the economic downturn didn't curtail any of the Foundation's efforts.

"We refuse to use the economy as an excuse because kids still have to go to college regardless of what Wall Street says," said the tournament invitation.

Fundraising efforts also include wine tastings, complete with music and snacks, every Friday in November in Tampa to raise money for the student scholarships.

Katie Froeschle was a graduate of Florida State University's College of Business with a bachelor's degree in finance and risk management/insurance. Katie was working as claims adjuster for the Florida Farm Bureau Insurance Company when she was murdered.

Each year the Katie Froeschle Foundation grants FSU business students the means to fund their education through the Katrina Anne "Katie" Froeschle Memorial Fund. Established in 2004, the fund has been financially assisting students in completing their education at FSU.
