Charles A. Bruning The Charles A. Bruning Distinguished Speaker Series in the College of Business was underwritten through the generosity of the late alumnus Charles A. Bruning. Through his ongoing philanthropy, Bruning also established the Charles A. Bruning Professorship in Entrepreneurship and the John R. Kerr Eminent Scholar Chair in Marketing.

Bruning was the founding chairman, president and chief executive officer of AmeriMark Financial Corporation, a newly formed bank holding company. He was chairman of AmeriMark Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of AmeriMark Financial Corporation and chairman and president of AmeriMark Realty Corporation and Banill Corporation, subsidiaries of AmeriMark Financial Corporation. He served on the board of directors of these companies and was also chairman and president of AmeriMark Leasing Corporation, a sales and leasing company of office products.

In addition, Bruning was a private investor and consultant to the financial services industry. He was a former member of the board of directors of First Southern Bancorp, Inc., Boca Raton, Florida and the Michael Jordan Golf Company, Northbrook, Illinois, which was sold to Goldman Sachs AMF/AMF Bowling Worldwide. He served on the board of trustees of the Florida State University Foundation.

Bruning received his BS in Finance from Florida State University and his MBA in Finance from Indiana State University.
